About Chunei Baby Carriers

The Korean baby carrier 'Chunei', pronounced chu-nae, is a modern, stylized podaegi (a traditional Korean carrier). It is very simple to use and unlike many other carriers, it takes the weight off the shoulders and evenly distributes it in throughout the torso and onto the hips.

Chunei carriers are suitable for front or back carries with children ranging from 2-3 months to as heavy as a parent can support (usually between 30 - 35 pounds is the upper limit of comfortable wearing  (about 3 years old).

Within Korea, the ihosa brand Chunei is the best selling, known for its durable material and craftsmanship as well as its great looks.

    • It is simple to use

A Chunei carrier does not have any long straps that need to be wrapped around your body. Once the carrier is set up to your body it is as easy as putting on a vest. Velcro is used to hold the carrier in place so one hand is always on your baby.
    • It is beautiful

Most baby carriers are made for comfort or ease of use. A Chunei is perfect for moms and dads who want comfort and ease of use at the same time. Even the most basic Chunei is stylish and modern. The fabrics used are of good quality (100% cotton) and the patterns are timeless, limited additions.
    • It is comfortable for mom and baby

A Chunei is a torso carry not a shoulder carry. The
baby's weight is spread through your torso and takes the strain off of your back and shoulders. Children can be carried far into their third year comfortably. Baby is cozy when carried in the front or the back. There are no dangling legs or tight straps which could cut off circulation to the baby's legs. It is completely safe and can be used as soon as babies have their neck strength (approximately 2- 3 months old).
